The history lesson doesn't end there; visitors have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the Oberon class Submarine HMAS Ovens. Departing every half hour (10am - 3.30pm) the tour takes visitors through the submarine revealing what it was like to live and serve on this undersea vessel. Please note due to steep ladders and narrow hatchways this tour is not for everyone, so check tour details and restrictions on the website.
In addition, the Maritime Museum welcomes school groups and excursions and even has facilitated programs for the different age groups. Bookings must be made in advanced.
Located at Victoria Quay, the Maritime Museum is within walking distance of the Fremantle train station. An alternative is to hop on the free Fremantle Cat Bus Service which passes regularly, simply check the timetable at the site.
