This is the best kept secret and one that I stumbled upon a year ago.
So whether you live in ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC or WA there is a freecycle organisation running in your home town.
You are best to join up with an active group near to where you live for easy pick up and for other to pick up your stuff. Say for instance if you are in Sydney, there are groups for Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Central, East, Fairfield, Hornsby, Hurstville, North West, Paramatta, Penrith, Pittwater LGA, South, Willoughby.
If there isn't a local group for you area, you can set one up.
Freecycle is an entirely non for profit movement of people who are giving and getting stuff for free in their own towns and therefore keeping good stuff out of landfills.
Membership is free and everything that is posted online must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages.
I've picked up kid's toys to tables and plants and in return I've given away clothes and toys my kids have grown out of. You can also request things and you never know, another person may have just the thing. You can also borrow and return items.
Join your local freecycle group now and start the movement.
