What are you doing next Tuesday morning?
Why not experience the benefits of Tai Chi by participating at the free weekly one-hour classes at
Federation Square, held by
Tai Chi Australia at 7:30 am.
Can't make it on Tuesdays? Don't fret, how about every Friday with the free one-hour classes held at
Queensbridge Square, Southbank by
Tai Chi Australia beginning at 8am?
These free classes are suitable for everyone – your age isn't an issue and it does not matter if you regularly practice Tai Chi or if you are simply looking for an introduction lesson – all are welcome.
So what's Tai Chi all about then?
Tai Chi is described by Master T. T. Ling, in
Tai Chi: The Supreme Ultimate by Lawrence Galante "... (as) an ancient form of Chinese exercise ... The fundamental principles of this exercise fall into four categories; health, self-defence, mental accomplishment, and the way to immortality " (Red Wheel/ Weiser, Boston, MA 1981 p 9).
During Tai Chi classes students perform slow controlled movements in open environments, with an emphasis on balance, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness.
The meditational aspect and the breathing exercises performed during the practice of Tai Chi can help lower stress and improve mental health. Check out some of the
videos online to see what a Tai Chi class involves.
So next time you have a free morning, why not make your way down to Fed Sq or Queensbridge Sq and participate in a Tai Chi class, held by
Tai Chi Australia's credited instructors. There is nothing to lose, just the ability to experience a healthy mind, body and spirit.
