I'm a freelance writer living in Perth. Having 2 young kids with endless energy, we are always on the lookout for new outdoor activities.
Event: 15/01/2012 - 26/02/2012
Every summer, the City of Vincent organises a series of live performances and family entertainment in its various parks. This year, the series promise to be no less entertaining than previous years and will be conducted over four Sunday evenings in January and February.

The Live in the Park 2012 series would kick off with WA Youth Jazz Orchestra on Sunday 15 January 5pm to 7pm at Hyde Park, Vincent Street, Perth. If you're not familiar with the layout of Hyde Park, then a hint is to find parking as close as possible to the corner of Vincent and William Streets as that's where the stage area is located by the lake.

The second event would see us at Braithwaite Park, Mt. Hawthorne on 29 January. Two recording artists would show their skills, opening with the Jayco Brothers at 5pm followed by Rachel & Henry Climb a Hill from 6pm to 7pm.

The 12 February event at Banks Reserve, Mt. Lawley would be slightly different with Film Night being offered. Both musical performances and film screenings would be provided on the riverside, starting with Paul Gioia, a blues and gospel pianist. Ruby Boots will follow, performing melancholic and heartening music to entertain visitors. At 8pm the Film Night will commence featuring among others short films set in the City of Vincent.

The last event of the series is scheduled for 26 February at Hyde Park. The band Sea of Tunes would deliver classic songs from the Beach Boys guaranteed to set your feet tapping.

In all of these concerts, an ice cream and coffee van will be available on-site and audience could bring a picnic if they wish. Although no set dancing area is allocated, impromptu dancing would usually start somewhere near the stage, and people of all ages and agility would enjoy themselves and burn calories at the same time. What a great way to spend summer evenings with friends and families.

If you need further Information on any of these events, contact City of Vincent's Recreation Officer at 9273 6566 or recreation@vincent.wa.gov.au.
