"Discover Brisbane's oasis" and get more than you bargain for when you book a free guided walk through Roma Street Parkland, situated in the centre of Brisbane's CBD. Officially opened in 2001 and found on 16 hectares of sprawling parkland, there are a number of free general and specialised walks operating throughout the week. A Queensland Government initiative, all guided walks are free of charge and are run by experienced volunteer guides.

Out and About with Bub
If you're a mum, dad or carer with children under five try an 'Out and About with Bub' walk. Leaving from Melange Café every Wednesday and Friday morning at 10am, this unique walk runs for 45 minutes and is set at a perfect pace for adults and children alike. You'll stroll through the parkland gardens, discover animal life along the river banks and take a break as the kids have fun in the playground.

Strollers are BYO and bookings are not essential, however, the park does advise you let them know ahead of time if you are a group of ten or more. If you require an Auslan interpreter for hearing impaired children you can book this free of charge by ringing the park at least 24 hours ahead of time. Download a copy of the bub walk flyer here.

Specialised Walks
Roma Street Parkland operates several specialised walks at varying times with each walk catering to a particular interest. Bookings are required four weeks in advance for specialised walks and you can arrange a morning or afternoon tea for a small cost. Bookings can be made by calling the parkland office on (07) 3006 4545.

*The Heritage Walk is perfect for those interested in the rich history of the parkland.
*If you're an art or sculpture lover try the specialised Art Walk which includes the history behind each piece and its incorporation into the parkland.
*The Curator's Walk is designed for true garden lovers and delves into the background of the architectural garden designs and plant life.
*The Sensory Walk is a specialised walk catering to persons with vision damage and/or brain injuries. Your guided tour will take you around several attractions of the parkland whilst "stimulating the senses, memory and mood". This walk is not exclusive and is available to anyone who wants to make a booking.

General Walks
The general guided walks operate daily and depart from The Hub at 10am and 2pm, running for 1 hour each. An Auslan interpreter can be arranged for a general walk by notifying the office beforehand. Bookings are not essential for the general walks except for groups of 10 or more people. To make a group booking you will need to notify the parkland office 4 weeks in advance. You can do this by downloading and completing the guide walk group booking form.
