Welcome to another fabulous month of fun, not to be missed, free festivals!

Drink, dine, and discover at the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival; celebrate multicultural Melbourne at Moomba during the Labour Day long weekend; enjoy community spirit and live tunes from local musicians at the Warrandyte Festival; and roll around laughing at The (Very) Big Laugh Out, as a party of the International Comedy Festival.

All events are family friendly and inclusive of all age groups, showcasing local talent and produce, and celebrating the diversity of culture and traditions. Enjoy all that Melbourne has to offer!

[SECTION]Moomba Festival[/SECTION]

Running over the Labour Day long weekend, from March 11th-14th, Moomba festival includes carnival rides, trapeze workshops, live music, master water-skier competitions, family friendly activities, the infamous Birdman Rally, and a spectacular fireworks display each night. A free outdoor event, appealing to all ages.

Some of the highlights of the festival include:

* Moomba Masters Championships, Friday March 11th to Monday March 14th
Watch the world's best waterskiers and wakeboarders compete at the biggest international waterski competition, on the Yarra. Day and night competitions at various times throughout the weekend.

* Free Entertainment, Saturday March 11th to Monday March 14th
Throughout the weekend, during the day and night, the Main Arena will host live music, performances, workshops, and interactive activities. The Green will showcase free music from local artists for all ages, and will also host the FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands Grand on Friday March 11th.

* Moomba Parade, 10.30am Monday March 14th
The 2000 participant parade will starting near the Shrine of Remembrance and finish near Linlithgow Avenue. A colourful showcase of community-made floats, performance troupes, professional and amateur dance groups, as well as school participants.

You can also help decorate the People's Float on Saturday and Sunday, then watch it in the parade!

* Birdman Rally, Noon Sunday March 13th
Head to the Yarra River, Birrarung Marr, to watch contestants aim to fly across the river by leaping from a four-metre platform wearing their home-made flying devices. Contestants are in the running for prizes, and to raise money for their chosen charity. Donate through Everyday Hero.

* Fireworks, Saturday March 11th to Monday March 14th
A spectacular fireworks display can be seen along the banks of the Yarra on Saturday, Sunday and Monday night, following the headline music performances. Best viewing for fireworks are along the river banks, at the Main Arena, or anywhere along Birrarung Marr, and Alexandra Gardens.

[SECTION]Warrandyte Festival[/SECTION]
Music, art, a community fair and a parade down the main street, converts this quiet suburb of Melbourne into a bustling venue throughout the weekend of Friday 18th- Sunday 20th March. Live music from local bands, kids activities, camel rides, billy cart derby, food and craft stalls, and more, will have you entertained for annual Warrandyte Festival.

Friday evening from 6pm to 10pm, head to the Main Stage, Upper Reserve, to listen to local young talents compete in the Battle of The Bands, for the first prize of a recording voucher. View the line-up here.

Saturday brings a full day of entertainment including a community parade of floats, vintage cars, bands and more, along Yarra Street from 11am. Other highlights include two music stages showcasing local musical and dance talent; an Arts Space Workshop featuring music workshops; camel rides, a giant water slide, and many kids activities; and an art and craft market selling local home-made products. Sunday continues with community events including a Family Bike Ride, Billy Cart Derby, Gold Mine Tour, Annual Duck Race and much more. Free live music on three stages throughout the day and night. View the program here .

[SECTION]River Graze[/SECTION]
Presented by the Bank of Melbourne, River Graze kicks off the 2016 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival's (MFWF) Opening Weekend. The Yarra River will transform into a food and wine lovers haven with culinary hot-spots, free entertainment, pop-up bars, activities for kids, and more.

How do you start to spend the weekend? Start by romancing your date in the Dimmi First Date Butterfly House ; take the kids to the Big M Zone for face painting, game and giveaways; relax with a drink and something to eat at the Beer Hub , Cider Orchard by Mirvac (non-alcoholic cider slushies for kids available too), Rooftop Garden , and other watering holes; then
Discover Sailing alongside experienced sailors and Yachting Australia qualified instructors.

[SECTION]The (Very) Big Laugh Out [/SECTION]


The (Very) Big Laugh Out transforms Fed Square and City Square into wonderlands of funny with some of the most unpredictably entertaining acts of the Festival. The world's best and funniest street performers, comedy, circus and all manner of curiosities with physical skills as wicked as their sense of humour churning out all-ages comedy for free!

Come one, come all for an action-packed program of sheer fun and frivolity. BYO open mind, open heart and a sense of fun.
