One of the most under used free resources in your neighborhood is your local public library. For a lot of us, we haven't set foot in the door of a library since we were kids looking for school project material. You won't believe how much they've changed!
Join up and enjoy latest release DVDs & CDs, magazines, free wi-fi, free or so cheap it's crazy talks by well known authors, workshops, musicians, the list really is endless. Here's a list of DVD titles to pique your interest:
Matching Jack'
Knight and Day'
Eat Pray Love'
True Grit' and
Made in Dagenham'.
CD titles include:
Clubbers Guide to 2011
Best of Blues & Roots 2011
Womadelaide: Sounds of the Planet 2011
Magazine titles include Madison, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Wheels, Mens Health, basically you name it, the library has got it!
Did I mention e-books? If you're so inclined, you won't even have to leave your armchair. Oh, and of course good old ordinary books, how could I forget those!!
My library service of choice is found at
www.erl.vic.gov.au which covers a large area east of Melbourne, and I use the Boronia branch.
So take yourself down to your corner store library (just Google it, they're everywhere) with some ID and before you know it you will be like a kid in a lolly shop. Come to think of it, you can probably join on line - libraries are sooo 21st century.
