Every year, without doubt the biggest Australia Day celebration for Perth dwellers would be the Skyworks , followed by the Indian Ocean Skyshow .

However, if you can't be bothered with all the struggling for a parking place and a picnic place, the struggling to find your kids among the throng of people in the dark, or the struggling to get out once the event is finished, then you might want to pay attention to the list below.



This article lists down other Australia Day celebrations around Perth. Some happen in the evening and has their own fireworks, whereas others happen in the morning so you can still go to your local event and then head to the big fireworks show later in the afternoon. In any case, there's no reason to miss out on the fun on this special day.

** City of Bayswater
When:** 8:30 am - 10:30 am.
Where: Pat O'Hara Reserve, Wellington Road, Morley.
What: Live music, face painting, bouncy castle, and free barbecue.

** Town of Cambridge
When:** 8 am - 12 pm.
Where: Perry Lakes Reserve, Perry Lakes Drive (near Cambridge Scout Hall), Floreat.
What: Face painting, Indigenous dance troupe, pony and camel rides, giant slippery slide, baby animal farm, sheep shearing demonstrations; and Fire Engine Fun.

** City of Canning
When:** 7:30 am.
Where: Cannington Leisureplex, Sevenoaks Street, Cannington.
What: Citizenship ceremony and free community breakfast.

** City of Cockburn
When:** 7 am - 11 am.
Where: Coogee Beach Reserve, off Cockburn Road, Coogee.
What: Live entertainment (including Cockburn Idol Heat 1), free rides and activities, face-painting, petting zoo, gold prospecting, sand cards, Oz wildlife and the watermelon challenge.

Town of Cottesloe (on behalf of the Cottesloe, Mosman Park and Peppermint Grove Councils)
When: 7 am - 11 am.
Where: Cottesloe Civic Centre Grounds, 109 Broome Street, Cottesloe.
What: Welcome to Country, raising of the Australian flag, citizenship ceremonies, presentation of the Australia Day Awards, and free community barbecue breakfast.

** City of Mandurah
When:** 7 am - 11 am.
Where: Eastern Foreshore, Mandurah.
What: Citizenship ceremony, formal announcement of Premier's Active Citizens Awards, barbecue breakfast, and Mandjar Markets.

** City of Stirling
When:** 9 am - 12 pm.
Where: Scarborough Beach Amphitheatre, Scarborough.
What: Kids entertainment, live music, and sausage sizzle.

** City of Armadale
When:** 5:30 pm - 10 pm.
Where: Minnawarra Park, Corner Orchard Avenue and Armadale Road, Armadale.
What: Live entertainment, children's activities, food stalls and fireworks.

** Town of Bassendean
When:** 5 pm - 9 pm.
Where: Ashfield Reserve, Guildford Road, Ashfield.
What: Stage performances, food stalls, carnival rides, art, and fireworks.

And of course, as mentioned in the introduction, there are also the two grandaddies of them all: the Skyworks and the Indian Ocean Skyshow .
