Put a little quirk back into your Friday nights by catching a late night film at ACMI’s
“Freaky Fridays”. Showcasing the best in bizarre and kooky cult films, what’s on offer is guaranteed to be far more unusual than what you would find at the local multiplex.
Located in
Federation Square and across the road from Flinders Street Station, ACMI is easily accessible by public transport or tram. Late night parking is also available on site at a discounted flat rate. Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 concession (which can also be purchased
online) and the screenings start at 10pm.
Films change weekly, so keep an eye on the
website if you don’t want to miss out. The range is diverse, so if this week’s flick isn’t for you, there’s always next Friday.
The program celebrates both classic cult films as well as the latest in maverick film-making. From vampire horror flicks made in the seventies, to science-fiction musicals (yes, there is such a thing) the films on Freaky Fridays are like nothing else you’ll watch all week.
The cinemas are new and comfortable, and snacks are available at the
ACMI Lounge. Finish off the evening with a late-night drink at one of the many bars and cafes around Federation Square for a Friday you won’t soon forget.
