We're greeted at the door of the performance space at the back of The Moon by a whirl of big hair and a "hello love!". Ashleigh Kreveld totters through the audience as Amy Winehouse on a set of the highest pumps imaginable to welcome us to the show.

Thanks to city parking, we're ten minutes behind schedule and we only just manage to squeeze in between a table for 10 and the walkway to the bathrooms in yet another sellout Perth Fringe Festival show for Frankly Winehouse.

If you've ever longed to meet Amy Winehouse herself, you'd have been tickled pink (or black?) with this performance.

We soon forget anything that happened outside The Moon as we're transported into a storytelling wonder of love, addiction, sadness and passion, expertly crafted by Ashleigh.

Beginning with the music that shaped her; "or whateva", Ashleigh brings Amy back from the grave and gets right into debunking some of the "stupid myths" surrounding Amy's life and passing.

Through her passionate love affair with Blake Fielder to her addiction to the drugs "they gave me" in childhood, Amy's story is carefully but raucously retold in this fantastic cabaret setting.

Through vocals and storytelling, we learn about Amy's affinity with jazz music and how it was one of the things that made her feel light in her heart.

Ashleigh portrays Amy with a candid vulnerability that makes you forget the sad tale of her death and brings her likeability back to the forefront.

Amy was a talented and skillful singer, and Ashleigh Kreveld gives her a run for her money. The pipes on this songbird are, quite frankly, a glory. Check the video below.

The top notes are full of Amy essence and the repertoire of Winehouse hits, jazz songs and storytelling ditties are genius. I wasn't really an Amy fan back in the day. However, after witnessing Franky Winehouse, I am an Ashleigh as Amy fan, for sure.

Wherever Frankly Winehouse is performing next, get yourself there.
