I have a friend's wedding coming up and with it being in Spring and a garden wedding, I had my heart set on finding a pretty maxi dress to wear.

I searched high and low in Marion to no avail as the fashion of the moment is knee length or the "frullet" dress. On top of that there was nothing in our budget, all dresses that came close to what I wanted blew the budget completely by about $400! I also struggled to find staff to assist me with finding a dress, even in the big department stores such as Myer and David Jones. I said to one sales assistant I was looking for a formal dress to which she pointed in the vague direction of the women's clothing department and wished me luck.

After an exasperating search I came home and got online to discover the Westfield website where you can search for a particular item and the website will bring up all the results, including the store the item is located and the price. I came across the store called Forcast and looked at their range and was impressed by the variety and colours and decided to go back the next day and straight to that store.

From the moment I walked in with partner and pram in tow, I was instantly met by a sales assistant asking if I needed help with anything. It is one of the few times I have walked into a store and not only been asked if I needed help but for it to actually feel genuine.

I explained my predicament to the girl who quickly and efficiently proceeded to find every possible maxi dress in store and didn't even show the slightest snigger at my non modelesque frame needs.

Even though there were other people in the store, she ensured she gave me her undivided attention, delegating her staff to other customers to continue assisting me with straps and sizing, and even went as far as to ask if I would need to breastfeed during the night as one particular design might limit me to do that. She chatted away to my partner and our bub while I changed and was very cheerful and friendly.

I ended up being torn between two dresses to which she gave an opinion on which one she felt I would get more value for money with due to being able to dress it up or down and that the style was more flattering for my shape. I was grateful for her honest opinion as (bless his cotton socks) my partner says I look good in anything and is not particularly helpful.

In conclusion, because of the customer service I was able to decide on a particular gown and the girl ended up making the sale. It was reasonably priced although I would have paid more as the customer service made it worth it as I was now confident in my choice of purchase.

I definitely recommend checking out this store.

Style: Women's fashion ranged from teens though to mid 30s
