Stockton Breakwall is the northern entrance to Newcastle Harbour. You can get access to Stockton Breakwall by traveling all the way to the southern end of the suburb of Stockton.

The Breakwall is a popular fishing spot for locals and for avid fishermen who don't mind traveling to ensure a great catch.

One of the most popular parts of the Breakwall is the old ship wreck half way along the Breakwall. The decaying wreck is a great haven for lots of fish. Once upon a time it was safe to fish off the wreck itself, but years of decay have taken its toll and its no longer safe.

If you don't mind loosing some tackle due to the rocks you could try fishing anywhere along the entire Breakwall. Another great fishing spot along the Breakwall is at the very end. As the waves break onto the rocks it stirs up a great deal of algae and weed that attracts fish for miles.

Take a fold up chair and a hat if you plan to spend a day fishing. Don't forget plenty of water and snacks because there are no facilities on the Breakwall.

If you're a historian as well as a fisherman, take your time to read the plaques on the Breakwall as there is a huge history attached to the Breakwall. For example you will be amazed at how many ship wrecks there are at Stockton Breakwall.

Happy Fishing.
