Allow yourself to be spirited away this weekend with Campbelltown's annual
Fisher's Ghost Festival .
The ten-day festival, celebrating Frederick Fisher, Australia's most famous ghost, begins Friday 2 November, with the opening of the Fisher's Ghost Art Award at Campbelltown Arts Centre at 6.30 pm. The Fisher's Ghost Carnival will also make its raucous and electrifying debut at Bradbury Oval, with rides and entertainment from 6.00pm until 11.00pm. Entries in the Fisher's Ghost Craft Exhibition are also available for viewing the foyer of Campbelltown Civic Centre.
On Saturday 3 November, the festival's centrepiece, the street parade, will take place along Queen Street, kicking off at 1.00 pm. Floats this year are inspired by the National Year of Reading theme "Love to Read". Local community groups, businesses, schools, musical and sporting groups take part in the parade using a variety of costumes, puppets, floats, and dance.
Music aficionados will get their fix with the Fisher's Gig Concert at Bradbury Oval from 2.00pm to 9.00pm, with local bands including The Masterplan, Go Mason, Go!, Cameria, Paintbox City and 46 Clicks taking the stage. They'll be headlined by two acts from Victoria, Closure in Moscow and Hunting Grounds. The fun-filled day will culminate with spectacular fireworks at Bradbury Oval at 9.00pm.
The carnival will continue on Sunday on Bradbury Oval from 6.00pm to 11.00pm. Campbelltown Arts Centre will also provide some creative performance opportunities for children with My Tiny World which will offer children to explore tents created for Fisher's Kids by 120 local school children from 10.00am to 2.00pm.
