Ever heard of fire chicken? How about fire chicken with cheese??
If you can take spicy food this should be on your list of things to try!

So what on earth is fire chicken?

This dish originates from Korea where it is called buldak (bul = fire, dak = chicken) and is chicken marinated in super spicy sauce served on a hot plate. There are two locations where I have tried out fire chicken: Strathfield's Stra Pocha and Jean's Chilli Chicken in Eastwood.

The most recent visit was to Eastwood, where a variety of spicy options were offered on the menu with the level of hotness indicated by the chilli index beside each item. Popular options include the original fire chicken (rated 3 chillis), fire chicken with cheese and the spicy eel with cabbage. There is the option to have rice balls with the spicy dishes (DIY style with scissors to cut up the dish to mix in to the rice and seaweed.

For those who can't take the heat there is the option of ginseng fried chicken. Starters that come before the fire chicken include cold pickled white radish which helps with the spiciness and kimchi for some extra kick.

If you are a lover of spicy food then definitely pay either restaurant a visit and try the fire chicken. If you are up for a super spicy challenge then request for the dishes to be extra hot! :)
