If you love mixed media — or if you've never tried it but have wanted to — join the other attendees on November 21 and 22 when scrapbook designer and mixed media artist extraordinaire Finnabair visits.
Mixed media involves combining items such as photographs, found items or artifacts, paint, ink, pastels, and collage in the same work, and the techniques are often used in scrapbooking and journaling.
Born Anna Dabrowska in Warsaw, Poland, Finnabair now lives in Ireland and works as a product designer for Prima Marketing and 7 Dots Studio and as a freelance designer for scrapbooking magazines from Great Britain, the USA, Germany, Sweden, France, and Russia. She began creating her art in 2007, started scrapbooking the next year, and then became "totally addicted" to mixed media in 2009. An experienced teacher, she travels widely, offering a range of mixed media art classes in art journaling, scrapbooking, and collage, among others.
Finnabair (pronounced Finavar) loves texture, paints of all kinds, recycling, and upcycling. She'll offer two collage art classes for her students -- one on overemotional collage and another on artifact collage.
In each mixed media art course, you'll learn Finnabair's techniques and get valuable tips on creating your own art, whether it's for scrapbooking, art journaling, or just your own pleasure. "Freedom, embracing creativity and being true to your inner voice is my main source of inspiration and creative energy," she says, so come with an open heart and open mind, ready to give your creative urges free rein and create a work of beauty that reflects your spirit.
As discussed on the Hobbysew blog, they've visited some great mixed media workshops this year and came away filled with fresh ideas and techniques. They have also laid in supplies of the newest paints, pens, stencils, and other media so you'll have some interesting choices for your work.
This is the latest in a series of mixed media art workshops offered at Hobbysew Echuca. Past instructors have included scrapbookers Prima Marketing and Trisha Ladoceur and landscape quilter Linden Lancaster. In addition, a Certified Ranger Educator will be present as well as other terrific tutors to help attendees with any projects they'd like to tackle. Also on offer is a spacious classroom for your convenience and enjoyment. All of this and more, located in Echuca, on the banks of the Murray River.
