Event: 03/12/2011 - 19/02/2012

The State Library is now hosting another historical and educational masterpiece this summer. Welcome to Finding Antarctica: Mapping The Last Continent exhibition.

It is simple. This exhibition involves a fair bit of reading and viewing of historical artefacts. It is an informative celebration of 100 years of Australian Expeditions to the Antarctic from 1911 to 2011.

If you are passionate about world history and have some fascination or interest in the south pole - then this exhibition is worth your while.

The focus of this free and interesting exhibition is on the mapping of Antarctica from the 15th to the 21st century; from woodcut maps to the latest satellite imagery. Rare maps and charts belonging to the State Library of New South Wales are also on show.
