The town of Collie's major art festival has a new name. What was once the Griffin Festival of the Arts is now called .

Collie has a lot planned for this year. It will be a celebration of art, community and culture. It will be on from 8th to the 17th of September. There will be so much to see and do.

There will be a street fair, an art competition, workshops, a street art installation, a performing arts completion and a writers' festival. The street fair is expected to attract thousands of visitors to Collie. It will include face painting, a climbing wall, a caricaturist, children's entertainers, bouncy castles, a busker's corner and a street market in Collie Central Park.

Earthbound Art will be there to promote WA Rocks. WA Rocks encourages kids to paint rocks and then hide them in public spaces for other people to find. Earthbound Art will assist kids in making their own rock art to leave somewhere.

Want to learn something new? Why not enrol yourself in a workshop? Some of the classes that will be on offer will be Acrylics for Beginners, Children's Cupcake Decorating, Make Your Own Dream Catcher and a Recycled T-Shirt Necklace Workshop. The classes will be free but bookings are essential. Please check out their website for more information.

will be hosting a huge art show in 2017 over a period of several days. There will be a range of categories and a large number of prizes on offer to be won.

If you think you might be interested in entering make sure you visit their website which will walk you through the registration process. The Writers' Festival will be held from the 13th to the 16th of September.

On Wednesday the 13th of September for just $5 dollars people will be able to meet Ruth Campbell-Hicks, an experienced public speaker from the Shire of Harvey, and hear her thoughts on how to write and produce a travel journal.

On Saturday the 16th of September festival goers will be able to enjoy an evening with travel author Alistair McGuinness for $5 dollars.

There will also be a free Children's Storybook Workshop held that same day for children aged 5 to 12 from 10am to 11am hosted by writer, illustrator and teacher Sean E Avery.

Are you a singer, a dancer, or have some other type of talent? will be holding a performing arts competition this year and wants to see local singers, dancers, musicians and other talented people perform.

The most talented will be selected to perform at the Grand Finale.
