During my short stay in the Gold Coast recently, I was searching for good coffee and good food. My friends recommended and bragged on about their Merlo coffee and fresh seafood.

We took on their advice and the next morning drove to Brickworks Centre where is located. As we arrived, we were surrounded by what seemed like an open air shopping mall.



The entrance looks like a warehouse but don't be fooled. When you enter into , you are welcomed by newly refurbished interiors with colourful display of fresh fruits, gelati and fresh seafood. This is a one stop shop for your daily coffee and food fix. It is open 7 days a week from 8am, so if you are a breakfast person like myself, this is perfect!





If you are a coffee addict, you have to get your coffee from the famous Merlo coffee at Merlo Torrefazione. The queue was long, but it was fast. You can also get a complimentary coffee if you purchase fresh coffee beans from them. Their coffee was good - I came back the next day just before heading back to Sydney.



Once you have got your coffee fix, you can shop around the deli, bakery, meat, fish market, cafes, a sweet shop or The Tea Centre for food. They also have fresh high quality fruit and vegetables and a juice Bar for the healthier option.

The seafood market sells a large selection of premium fresh local live seafood, oysters and sushi. The variety of sushi was amazing but my husband ordered their calamari and fries instead, which was equally as delicious I'm sure.



As for me, I wanted something more simple for breakfast so I stopped by The Tea Centre because I was looking for scones to go with my coffee. To my delight, they had scones displayed with other eatable delights on the table as you enter. I love how the food is placed in the midst of their tea cups and cups for sale. It makes you want to shop and eat at the same time! The Tea Centre has more than 175 teas to take home or enjoy at the shop.





I ordered my plain scone that came out warm accompanied with cream and jam and had it with my Merlo cappuccino. It was bliss.



If you are looking for good coffee, good food, good atmosphere to come yourself or with the family, is the place. It is a little gem in the midst of shops and definitely worth a drive to enjoy that weekend brunch!
