Fergusson Square is an elegant park in Toorak Gardens where you'll find a lovely spot to just stroll amongst the trees. There is a playground for the kids to enjoy, and some places where you could set up a picnic blanket and enjoy your lunch in the sunshine.
The playground at Fergusson Square is aimed for children of all ages; there is nothing too difficult for younger children to master and enough to keep older ones entertained. There are swings and a slide on the playground, as well as some fun climbing frames. Kids will also enjoy the enclosed tunnel slide, which is something you don't find at many playgrounds. Younger children will have fun rotating the letter game that is part of the playground, and there is plenty of space for kids to run around on the pine bark.
There are no barbecue or toilet facilities on the land, but it is a lovely place to set up a picnic. There are no undercover picnic areas, so make sure you are heading there on a clear day or you might find your picnic ruined by an unexpected downpour. Set up a spot on the grass under one of the large trees, or picnic by the tree-lined path. In spring sitting by the rose garden makes a lovely sight.
The entire square is divided by the many flower beds of roses. This means that Fergusson Square is not a particularly good place for ballgames, as you are often likely to be retrieving your ball from amongst the roses. This would still be a nice spot to fly a kite, and kids still have plenty of room to run around on the grass. The paths that run through the square also make a good place to help young children shed their training wheels.
Fergusson Park is a lovely spot to take the kids for some playtime, or just somewhere you can go for a stroll outside. To find more parks and gardens in the area visit the
