
Just 40 minutes from Sydney's CBD is a wildlife park that might make you feel as if you are out in the bush among native Australian animals. The
Featherdale Wildlife Park in Doonside near Blacktown is popular for the ultimate wildlife experience it provides to its visitors.
Situated on 7 acres of natural bush setting and home to the world's largest and premier collection of Australian native animals, you will be able to get up, close and personal with over 2,200 animals from more than 330 different species. You will be greeted by the swaggie and joey at the entrance to the park and throughout the park visitors are encouraged to come closer to the animals, hold them and touch them for free at all times of the day. You can choose to cuddle a koala, handfeed kanagaroos and emus and see also see a variety of animals like 'Ngukhur' a 4 1/2 metre saltwater crocodile, the Ghost Bat & Bilby Nocturnal Exhibit, Tasmanian devils, dingos, echidnas, wombats, little penguins and a diverse range of birds and much more. There is a reptile pavilion with more than 30 species of reptiles too.
There are activities like wildlife shows, tree planting, bird watching, animal viewing and some childrens fun activities to keep everyone engaged and absorbed in the park.
The park also provides facilities like picnic benches and spots, BBQ, souvenir shops and facilities for families with babies and the disabled. The park can be easily reached by car or public transport. By train you can reach Blacktown station and then take bus 725 that drops you right in front of the park.
