As you walk through the entrance of the Featherdale Wildlife Park you are greeted with a world of wildlife. The park enables you to have a close up and personal experience with the majestic animals. And it is certainly one wildlife park where you are going to have the ultimate hands-on experience.

As you meander through the well maintained tree lined pathways of the park, you feel so close to the animals, in fact most of the enclosures are an arm's length away allowing you to lean in for a pet...

With an enormous range of Australian and around the world animals, this is by far one of my favourite zoos / wildlife parks (It is actually home to over two thousand gorgeous Australian animals). What makes it even more spectacular is the all day free koala encounter, which allows you to pet the koalas and take photos.

With an abundance of kangaroos and wallabies strolling free range, it provides the perfect opportunity to feed and pet these adorable marsupials. There are also more free range animals to feed and pet too as you move along further into the Park to the farm animals enclosure. Sheep, chickens, goats and many more farmyard animals can be fed and patted here; the kids, and those of us that are kids at heart, will love this.

Large birds, kingfishers, raptors, water birds, parrots, finches, pigeons, owls / night jars, cassowaries and soft bills are some of the bird species that call Featherdale Wildlife Park home. This would astound the keenest bird enthusiast – we spent half the day at the bird enclosures....there were so many.

Reptiles ranging from venomous snakes, pythons, lizards/ dragons, turtles, monitors, and crocodile also call this park home. The reptile enclosure also displays edifying information and the incubators for breeding, which is interesting to see.

Of course our very home 'Aussie' natives such as kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, bilby, emus, dingos, koalas, and much more stroll around the Park, including a couple of Albino kangaroos, so keep an eye out for them.

A little fact about Featherdale Wildlife Park, it was once a poultry farm in 1953 and today it is one of the best wildlife parks in this country, with the Park playing a vital role in many conservation efforts throughout the country.

The Park also holds outdoor events such as children's birthdays; this is certainly a place to keep everyone entertained.

You can bring your own BBQ lunch or you can fulfill those hunger cravings at their newly renovated cafe.

It will certainly be one engaging visit.

There is plenty of parking inside the property or directly across the road (there is a sign stating it is the Park's carpark). Alternatively, you can arrive by public transport - please check their website for more information on this.
