The worst time of day to put on weight is when I am feeling hungry for a snack to get me through to dinner or the next main meal. I don't want to overeat before dinner and sometimes I eat the wrong type of food when my body craves something to eat and I regret it later on.

How can we prepare ahead of time to avoid grabbing for any old food that is in our reach? These low fat snack ideas will satisfy your hunger to help prevent you from grabbing those high sugary and high carbohydrate snacks that pack on the weight.

5 Low Fat Snack Idea's

1. Cooked Pumpkin - cut some Kent pumpkin into small pieces and cook it in the oven until golden brown. Keep the pumpkin in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days and when you are craving for a sweet snack try some pumpkin hot or cold, you will be surprised how good it really tastes.

2. Dry Smoked Almonds – I love the taste of dry smoked almonds instead of natural almonds, the ingredients are exactly the same but the preparation process is slightly different resulting in a more desirable taste.

Try some dry roasted almonds.

3. Chicken Breast – cook a chicken breast on low heat in a fry pan with a lid so the chicken does not become dry or hard on the outside. When the chicken is cooked cut it up into small pieces and keep in a sealed container for up to 2-3 days.

4. Dates – fresh dates are the best but if you can't afford the fresh ones why not try trident dates they have no preservatives however they do contain vegetable oil to preserve the product.
