New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Vintage, Retro, New & Designer
The Fash 'n' Treasure Markets are held at the EPIC (Exhibition Park in Canberra) several times each year. The markets include new designer fashion as well as second hand, retro and vintage pieces to discover. If you love all types of fashion, the quirky and the stylish, then the Fash 'n' Treasure Markets will be five hours of fashionable fun. Held on Saturdays between 10am - 3pm, shop for a whole new wardrobe or perhaps nab an original piece that will get your friends asking "Wow - where did you buy that?"
There is a wide variety of traders who sell at the markets including local and interstate fashion designers, vintage fashion dealers, local Canberrans selling their second-hand clothes, stylists and milliners showcasing creations that you won't find anywhere else. If you love vintage clothing, there is a huge range to choose from with stalls dedicated to original vintage or updated pieces to revive their beauty.
The second hand stalls are always popular, with bargain hunters on a mission to find that perfect piece. There are also designer brands sold at a fraction of the price, so you never know what stylish bargain you may unearth at the bottom of the pile.
Half the fun of the markets is also finding original designers who create fashion that is abit quirky and a conversation piece every time you wear it.
The Fash 'n 'Treasure Markets also showcases jewellery and accessory designers who are inspired by different cultures, materials, religions, decades, the weird and wonderful. You may find second hand jewellery from past eras that have been revamped to the modern style. If you love original jewellery, visit the markets and hear from the person who makes them to discover the story behind each creation.
The Fash 'n' Treasure market has more than just ladies wear - there is menswear, kidswear, babywear, accessories, books, records, CD's, homewares and beauty items. There will also be market stalls held by retail stores selling off new stock and even bridal wear at discount prices can be found at the markets.
Menswear is another popular area, with local designers setting up labels and wanting to show their original designs to the fashion-conscious market customers.
For details on the next market, see the Fash n' Treasure website and Facebook for more information. It costs $3 to enter the markets and bargain hunters arrive early. There will be change rooms, an ATM, fashion parades, an EFTPOS desk so you can use your credit card to buy items from personal sellers and a DJ rocking the pavilion.
So to all fashionistas - grab your vintage bag, slide on your slingbacks and shop until you drop at the Fash 'n' Treasure Markets coming soon. And remember...
