Fabric - London's Most Famous Night Club

Home > Things to do in London > Nightlife
Published October 5th 2009
With the interchanging and constant flux of nightclubs in London it is hard to stay on the pulse. Survival let alone possessing the formidable title of the city's most famous nightclub is not an easy feat. However, this is exactly what Fabric has accomplished for over a decade and the reason that it is widely regarded as one of the best dance music venues in the world.

Located opposite Smithfield meat market in the renovated Metropolitan Cold Stores, Fabric has been the home of bumping beats since its formation in 1999. The club mixes up a cocktail of Breaks, Drum 'n' Bass and Hip Hop on Fridays and Techno, Electronica and Tech-House on Saturdays. The featured artists range from the best up-and-coming local and international talent to some of the world's finest DJ's including; resident Craig Richards, Andy C and Jaques Lu Cont to name but a few. The weekly sets became so popular and internationally acclaimed that they led to the launch of the clubs own successful record label Fabric Records and a weekly podcast of talent featured at the club.

Fabric is made up of three suave and cutting edge designed rooms with the 1st and 2nd possessing stages that feature varying live sets from world class musical talent. Check out the clubs upcoming listings here. Room 1 is also home to the "bodysonic" dancefloor where sections of the floor are connected to 400 W bass transducers that can send revelers into a state of synthetic epilepsy in time with the beats.

The reason that Fabric has lasted the test of time while so many others have come and gone is because it has always been and remains on the pulse of the modern music scene and the cutting edge of new talent. The fact that it has become a London institution that; makes names, attracts revelers from around the world and plays host to world class performers is why it will remain a fixture on the London club scene long into the future. Drinks and entry aren't cheap but when your at a place that in decades time people will say defined a scene it is all worth while.
