Canberra is fortunate to have a wide variety of national parks, reserves and wetlands in the region to enjoy the beauty of nature, so close to the city. This September and early October, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into nature with the Explore program, which lists family friendly activities at Tidbinbilla Nature Park (45 minutes from the CBD), Mulligans Flat Woodlands Sanctuary (30 minutes from the CBD), as well as Jerrabomberra Wetlands and the National Arboretum (both just 10 minutes from the CBD).

Join a platypus spotting expedition, see koalas in their natural habitat, enjoy a twilight tour to see what animals come out at night, book into a school holiday nature craft activity, watch pelican feeding, taste damper and billy tea over a campfire, watch a boomerang throwing demonstration and learn about brolga's and potoroo's.

See the Tidbinbilla Explore Program website for all the details and dates.
