1. Take a ferry ride to Waiheke Island

If you're interested in getting out of the city centre, take an inexpensive ferry ride to Waiheke Island. Whilst exploring Waiheke Island you'll have the opportunity to tour some of Waiheke Island's world class wineries such as Mudbrick Restaurant and Vineyard and Cable Bay Vineyard. Alternatively, if you have an adventurous spirit, you may want to go zip-lining through Waiheke Island's stunning forests.

2. Attend the 2017 World Masters Games

This year, Auckland will proudly host the 2017 World Masters Games. An international event which is set to attract 25,000 participants from around the globe. If you're sports mad, you'll love having the opportunity to watch international athletes compete in 28 different sports. Examples include surf lifesaving, golf, beach volleyball and football. Better yet, if you're interested in New Zealand tours that coincide with the 2017 World Masters Games, you'll also be able to take part in the 10 days of festivities, which will surround the games.

3. Jump off the Sky Tower

For phenomenal views of Auckland, make sure to visit the Sky Tower, the tallest building in New Zealand. Whilst visiting the Sky Tower, you'll also have the opportunity to bungee jump off the Sky Tower and walk around the outside of the Sky Tower by booking a SkyWalk. SkyWalk participants are placed in body harnesses and will have the opportunity to navigate a narrow 1.2-metre-wide platform, which circumnavigates the outside of the tower. Just keep in mind that the SkyWalk takes place on the 53rd level of the Sky Tower and isn't for the faint of heart.

The most thrilling way to explore Auckland's waterfront is to book a ticket on the Auckland Adventure Jet. Get ready for the ride of a lifetime as your jet boat will achieve speeds of over 50 knots. Just keep in mind that you're likely to get wet, your speed boat completes thrilling 360-degree turns. Each trip is 35 minutes long and includes numerous stops so that you can take photos of landmarks such as Kauri Point and the historic Chelsea Sugar Factory.
