Escape the city’s hustle & bustle at this cosy cafe
Tucked away in the heart of the busy city, a charming cafe is bustling with life, a cosy atmosphere, superfood, wholesome delights and the aroma of coffee teasing the senses.

This cosy lane cafe is certainly worth a visit!

Espresso on Sussex Lane is an exquisite little venue that is hidden in the laneway of Sussex Lane and within a short walking distance from Wynyard Train Station, making this cafe one not to pass.

The tantalising menu and do not forget to check the boards for daily specials.

Whether you work in Sydney CBD or are enjoying a day out on the town Espresso on Sussex Lane makes the perfect spot to grab a coffee, something to eat on the go, a spot to indulge the tastebuds with delicious foods and enticing coffees, catch-up with friends or colleagues, a casual work meeting or escape the city 'lunch rush hour'.

A quirky and fun take on the humble milkshake!

Espresso on Sussex Lane has transformed itself with a recently vamped up menu and it is a very scrumptious menu, that has been a big hit with Sydneysiders and tourists alike. And with an ambience of cosy, warm and welcoming vibes, it makes it hard to believe that this little gem is located in the heart of Sydney city.

The cappuccino was smooth and perfect temperature.

Our beverages were first up and I decided to try the Banana Milkshake ($6) and what a surprise it was! The humble milkshake was transformed into a quirky and fun presentation, filled with delicious milky goodness.

The Hipster Breakfast was wholesome and tasty.

The Cappuccino was smooth, with perfect temperature and velvety milk texture, making it the perfect morning "pick-me-up". The barista certainly mastered the art of cappuccino at Espresso on Sussex Lane!

Our morning was then followed with the Hipster Breakfast and Laneway Bowl (both $18). Like the saying goes, you eat with your eyes and we certainly did eat with our eyes. Both dishes were presented like art on the plate, enticing our palates furthermore.

The poached eggs were cooked perfectly.

The Hipster Breakfast includes fried or poached eggs with an avocado smash, wilted spinach, heirloom tomato and pistachio dukkah. This gluten-free brekkie meal was jam-packed with flavour and texture.

The Laneway Bowl was a refreshing start to the morning.

The addition of the pistachio dukkah was certainly a creative touch and added a texture to the meal. Everything on the plate united in a culinary wonderland explosion of flavour. I added smoked salmon ($4) and this worked splendidly well with the other flavours. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection with the right amount of softness. The whole meal was no doubt a burst of relish!

The Laneway Bowl was brimming with wholesome goodness! It featured poached eggs, quinoa, wilted kale, toasted almonds, avocado and lemon dressing. It was such a refreshing meal to begin the day. The kale was not overly wilted, allowing the natural slight crunch to shine through and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The zest from the lemon combined all the flavours scrumptiously well.

Check out the bar for freshly made sandwiches, rolls and treats.

The cafe also offers off-menu food options, so do check out the boards at the bar for daily specials. There is a range of healthy smoothies and protein mixers on the menu, including a range of superfood options and tantalising lunch options to choose from.

Check out the board for daily tasty specials.

A tempting range of delicious and healthy sandwich options and 'on-the-go' foods can be found at the bar, making it a perfect way to enjoy cafe-style meals on the go.

Such a cosy atmosphere.

This cafe is certainly a source of energy with the healthy, creative and scrumptious delights on offer. Service was friendly and professional throughout the dining experience and I will certainly return back when I am in town again.

Espresso on Sussex Lane is a wonderful city escape, within the city. It did not feel like we were enjoying brunch in the heart of bustling Sydney. With the quiet laneway and the comfy atmosphere, friendly service and delightful food, this cafe certainly is one little gem not to miss out on!

Wow the food looks great and the décor is pleasing too. Looks big and spacious for a café in a laneway. Great article.
