Last month, after attending this event, I had a few days before going back to the North. Whilst looking for some things to do in Bangkok with family before we escape from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, I happened across a company that offers four different escape games. Escape Break is an escape game Bangkok that presents escapees with a number of obstacles and challenges as they try to make it out to the other side. It's definitely one of the fun activities to help you escape Bangkok without leaving that I'd recommend to just about anyone.

The way these games work is that you and your friends and family will be locked in a room and given a briefing on what your unique mission is.

In my case, I was locked in with some friends as well as my brother, so I could tell right away that we were in for some brainy fun. The staff gives you an hour to search for clues and uncover secrets to aid you in your room.

One of the cool things about these games is that each one of them is themed in some kind of unique way, and they all require a high level of teamwork to escape the room. You need to have at least two players to play, but you could have as many as seven if you so desire.

There are four main types of this Bangkok escape game that you can choose from when you get there.

Outbreak
The first is called Outbreak. This one's perfect for zombie fanatics, and it deals with the spread of a mysterious virus that quickly ravages the world. As an employee locked in the lab where the only hope for an antidote lies, it's your duty to navigate dead ends and booby traps to find this antidote within an hour and in the process save the world. Of any escape room Bangkok has to offer, this was our favorite.

Relic Rush l Escape Break

Relic Rush
Relic rush is a game that revolves around a team of archaeologists (you and your group) who are searching for a rare relic deep in the jungle of Cambodia. As it turns out, the temple that houses the relic is only open for a short period of time once every hundred years, and tonight is when it will happen. Faced with a locked temple door, you and your crew will have to find a way to gain entrance and bring the relic to the museum.

Ghost Ship
Ghost Ship puts you in the role of a crew member on a salvaging ship that plans on recovering treasure from a ship whose crew mysteriously vanished without a trace. But when you and a couple of crew members get locked in one of the cabins as a storm approaches, you all have to solve several mysteries to get out before it's too late.

Kowloon Captive l Escape Break

Kowloon Captive
The final game, Kowloon Captive, puts you in the role of an undercover cop who has been initiated into a notorious Hong Kong gang who kidnaps a politician's daughter with the intention of drawing a ransom out of the famous father. It's your job to uncover clues as to the daughter's whereabouts so that she can be recovered safely without paying the ransom and so that you can keep your job.

All of the games seemed really appealing, but being big fans of the old George A. Romero zombie movies, everyone in my group agreed that Outbreak would be the best fit for us. The game puts a lot of red herrings in your way and leads you down promising paths that only lead to dead ends, which at first was frustrating but became fun as the game went on.

My brother was pretty gung-ho about the whole thing, and he wanted to be the one who found the way out. Normally this would be fine, but when you need to work as a team, this just doesn't work. Anyway, I got the knucklehead to work with us, and we quickly started solving mystery after mystery.

The set design was amazing. I actually felt like I was locked in a government lab with my pals, and that really made the whole experience that much more engrossing. It was very easy for us to get in the story and feel like the whole world was at peril should we fail in our quest to find the antidote to this terrible virus. Overall, Escape Break offers a very fun, very engrossing experience that's an especially cool way to while away the hours on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Go check it out!
