I love browsing through secondhand bookshops and I am particularly fond of the
Elizabeth's Bookshop located on Pitt Street. What I like this great little second-hand bookshop is that it is cosy and carries categories of particular interest – arts, history, military, literature, fiction, children's books, personal development, travel, animals and more . What's more they even have a good collection of Tin-Tin comic books, the classic comic series by Belgian artist Hergé. The bookshop also carries limited stock for new books too.
I particularly like the arts and travel categories. Very often I wonder what sort of people who had read these books before. If you are looking for some old titles or the quirky one, you can simply ask the shop assistants' help as they are more than happy to find out for you.
Interestingly, you can also sell your books or videos in return for an exchange credit ticket with a validity period of 6 months. How it works is that you will be given a little
exchange credit ticket (pictured) from your sale. You can use them as a partial payment on your purchase. You may be able to get a few dollars back from your sale. Mind you not all the books and videos will be accepted. The acceptance of your books and videos depends very much on how good the condition they are, how long they have been published and whether the shop assistants think that they are sellable or not. However, if you intend to chuck them away anyway due to running out of your space on your bookshelf, why not recycle them and let like-minded people read your treasures.
If you have an hour or so to spare and you find yourself in CBD, why not walk in to have a look to hunt down the treasures. You may be lucky to find the books or videos you have been looking for at a much lower price. Happy browsing and reading!
