Have you been searching for the perfect family beach this summer? One that ticks all of these boxes?
I. safe swimming
ii. small waves for kids on boogie boards
iii. patrolled by life guards
iv. plenty of sand for building castles
v. room for beach cricket or ball games
I have great news. You can stop searching for this mythical place because your summer wish for the perfect beach has been granted.
Elizabeth Beach
"Where is it?", I hear you ask. The perfect family beach, as voted by myself, is Elizabeth Beach on the northern NSW coast, around 20km south of Forster.
This crescent shaped beach is nestled between two headlands and is north facing. As a result it is often calm which makes it a safe beach for families of all ages.
Perfect conditions for families
It is also patrolled during the summer months. There are showers and toilets available as well as offstreet parking or parking along Lakeside Crescent.
Lifeguards patrol the beach during summer
As you step on to the beach you will notice the fine white sand squeaks between your toes. This beach has another advantage - it is pretty as a picture.
It can get crowded during peak holiday season, and the beach becomes dotted with an array of colourful beach umbrellas and shade shelters, but even then you can still find room for a game of beach cricket or footy.
During peak holiday season
The water is definitely refreshing on a hot summer's day. Kids can catch a wave on their boogie boards and adults can surf or test their balance on the stand up paddle board. For the less energetic it is also the perfect place to relax with a good book and a cold drink. I would definitely recommend a visit on your next trip up the NSW mid-north coast.
Don't forget your sunscreen and a cold drink!
