An
Egyptian Festival will be held at the Queen Victoria Market on Sunday 26 February, from 10am to 4pm.

This free event will be a great opportunity for locals to sample vibrant Egyptian cuisine; dishes may include falafel, kofta, kebab, maḥshi, mesa'a`ah, couscous Egyptian style. harissa and halawa. You can also purchase various arts and crafts reflective of Egyptian culture and also enjoy a day long program of popular and folk Egyptian music performances.
This event is being held in collaboration with the
Friendship Australian Egyptian Association (FAEA) and looks to be the first of many multicultural events to be held at Queen Victoria Market in 2012; other forthcoming events include the
Timor-Leste Culture and Food Festival, which will be held on Sunday 19 February, 10am to 4pm. This event will also feature traditional dance and music performances and East Timorese food. Plus there is the
World Street Food Festival (as part of the upcoming
Melbourne Food and Wine Festival), which will be held on Sunday 18 March, 10am to 4pm.
