I'm a freelance writer who lives on the Bellarine Peninsula. I enjoy finding new things to see and do in the beautiful area that I live in.

Echuca, located on the border of Victoria and New South Wales, has long been a popular holiday destination. The picturesque little town caters to many different interests- some people come to see the iconic paddlesteamers as they set off down the Murray River, some come to visit the surrounding wineries, and some are more interested in participating in the various water-sports that are on offer.
As a result of this tourism-driven industry, there are a lot of accommodation options available for people travelling to the area. But if you're after an affordable place, that isn't too far from the township and has plenty of space, you need look no further than Echuca Rivergum Motor Inn. Even though it is situated on Northern Highway amongst car dealerships and other similar businesses, the motor inn is still only a five-minute drive away from the town centre. Because of its location, there is plenty of space available- with ample parking for larger vehicles such as buses, or guests towing boats- which means that it is ideal for those who may struggle to find accommodation elsewhere.
This is quite a large motor inn by the usual standards, with thirty-five spacious rooms surrounding a large entertainment area, a full-size dirt-ground tennis court and an outdoor swimming pool. There is a simple wooden playground for the children to play on, and a barbecue area with an outdoor seating arrangement, for people who wish to gather outside their rooms. The rooms loop around this outdoor area, providing a central meeting spot.
Inside the rooms, the tiled entranceway opens out onto a large room with wood-panelled high ceilings, and a brick wall interior. The bathroom, which is right inside the front door has all your basic commodities- a shower, toilet and basin- as you would expect. Unfortunately, although the main room is quite spacious, the bathroom is comparatively small, and you may have some difficulty getting into the shower, with its close proximity to the basin.
Despite this, the rest of the room is quite pleasant, with a comfortable bed, little dining area, and suede 2-seater couch occupying the room. The bedside tables are built into the wall on either side of the queen-size bed, and are the same pine-wood colour as the large desk that can also be found in the room. A small cupboard under the desk houses coffee and tea-making facilities, right next to a mini-fridge. Another cupboard contains spare blankets and pillows. If you look past the brown black-out curtains, you can view a small native plant garden and green corrugated fence, on the borderline of the property.
This establishment is by no means five-star, but it perfectly caters to most holiday-makers. With free Wi-Fi available (you have to ask for the password at reception), and a courtesy shuttle-bus available to guests (if you want to go out and visit Moama Bowling Club, Echuca Moama RSL Club, Rich River Golf Club or Echuca Workers Club), Echuca Rivergum Motor Inn provides more than you'd get from your average motor inn. If you're after affordable and comfortable accommodation, and would prefer a bit more space (away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre) then this is the perfect motor inn to stay at while in Echuca.
