The Eagle Skylift is a state of the art gondola, that soars to 305m at the highest point of Arthurs Seat on the scenic Mornington Peninsula.
The Eagle gondola, unlike the previous chairlifts, are a combination of enclosed and open cabins which provide an all-weather experience for passengers. The gondola is exceptionally quiet as you glide over the treetops in the beautiful State Park. It carries passengers between the Base Station in Dromana to the summit of Arthurs Seat. I highly recommend parking at the base and making your way up. As you disembark, you have a choice to have lunch or a light refreshment at the Eagle cafe, with options to sit indoors, or if you prefer, a there's a sunny outdoor deck where you can take in the views and watch the gondolas. A range of healthy and hearty food is available, as well as some delicious gluten-free and vegetarian options.
Just out of the Summit station, if you are feeling energetic, there is a network of walking tracks throughout Arthurs Seat State Park that provides the opportunity to get up close to nature, get some fresh air and exercise. I decided to do the Summit circuit walk - short and scenic, only 1.8km. I got a little sunburnt, so make sure you put sunscreen on!
I was torn between taking in the breathtaking view across the bay to the city and spotting wildlife below. This attraction is fun for the whole family! It also makes for a romantic day trip or impress friends from interstate or overseas!
