Event: 27/02/2009
With large colourfully decorated canoes paddled by sweating and shouting teams amidst roaring crowds cheering them on, the Dragon Boat Race is one of the favourite events in the Chinese New Year Festival. The races will be held on 27th and 28th of February, 2010, from 8am to 5pm in Darling Harbour.

Each boat has 20 rowers (usually a corporate team, or a community group of some sort) in each boat topped and tailed by the steersman at the back and the pace-setter, beating the drum at the front. The course is 200m long and there are a number of heats followed by the finals.

To cheer your local team and the other participants and to watch them battle it out, get to Darling Harbour on 27th and 28th of February and grab a spot to watch the unique Dragon Boat Race.
