Looking for a big night out but don't want to break your bank? Then you can't look past the
Doutta Galla Hotel in Flemington. Located up Racecourse Road, the Doutta Galla Hotel is a fun place to go out on a Wednesday night. Affectionately known by the locals as "The Doutt", this pub's high energy atmosphere makes it a favourite for students.
On a Wednesday this place has some of the best drink specials going round. You can't go wrong with $6 pints and $3 pots, and that's not to mention two-for-one Yagerbombs. Then again if you're in the mood for some classic tunes, get there on a Saturday for retro nights. If you arrive early and feel like a meal, there is a
great pub menu.
In terms of
design, this is one of the nicer looking pubs in Melbourne. It dates back to 1888 and has some impressive Victorian style architecture. Inside is a complete contrast, with flashy lights and a large screen projecting video clips as the DJ's go about their business. The bar is very open and is located in the middle of the pub. It stretches right around to the dance floor, very handy if you want a quick drink but hate losing your friends. If you're in the mood, the dance floor is well worth your time, as the regulars love it. You can usually be guaranteed some great moments towards closing when the DJ's play a few crowd favourites.
When you're done there's a great souvlaki store a few shops down, which is a god-send for anyone feeling like a feed. There's also never a shortage of taxis ready and waiting to get you home. Overall the Doutta Galla Hotel is an absolute hoot if you feel like a fun night out with mates. So do yourself a favour and check it out.
