When searching for cafes in Brunswick, many people will only look up and down Sydney Road and rarely check down any side streets, which is a shame because they will miss out on some of the best cafes Brunswick has to offer, like Dood328.

The menu at Dood328 contains pretty standard cafe food with a couple of interesting exceptions. One of these is the Egyptian eggs and these alone are reason enough to stray from Sydney Road and eat here. Perfectly poached eggs sit atop a delicious potato and pumpkin rosti, all served on a bed of rocket surrounded by dots of chilli jam.

Last time we were there they also had a breakfast of asparagus in a creamy garlic sauce served with two poached eggs on toast. They even let us add mushrooms for no extra charge, not great for me but my partner was happy about that.

The staff here are all incredibly friendly. We don't even live in Brunswick any more and so are by no means frequent customers but the waiter remembers us every time and is always keen for a chat. The chef will also come out on occasion and is very gracious in accepting all of his well deserved compliments.

Inside Dood328 you will find a normal cafe layout, with a big bar in the middle and some quiet booths at the back that afford some privacy. A whole wall at the back of the cafe is covered with pages from old comic books. This is good if you're on your own or if the conversation has dried up.

Good food, excellent service and great coffee make Dood328 an all round great Brunswick cafe. Be sure to check it out.
