Discover Dogs returns for the 15th time, which means Earls Court will be filled with more mutts - and therefore more barking - than ever before.
The show is a lot of fun, with around 200 breeds of pedigree dog present - and as a visitor you'll have the opportunity to meet each and every one of them.
Events at
Discover Dogs are varied, and this year include, for example:
-
The Companion Dog Club Competition: Held in support of the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, lots of cute canines battle it out to win the prestigious Dog of the Day prize.
-
Scruffts: The popular Scruffts event is what the organisers call "the nation's favourite crossbreed competition." Winners of country-wide heats will be descending on Earls Court in an attempt to bag the top prize.
-
Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme: At Discover Dogs' training and display ring you'll be able to enjoy some entertaining demonstrations showing how we can improve our relationship with our beloved dog. Those running the scheme will also be on hand to offer advice to anyone thinking of getting a dog for the first time.
-
Dog Photographer of the Year competition: Marvel at the photography skills not of dogs, but of photographers who have taken pictures of dogs. On display will be the finalists of the 2011 Dog Photographer of the Year competition.
-
Kids Zone & the Young Kennel Club: Talking of the young ones, this year those under 12 years of age get in to Discover Dogs for absolutely free. Among the many fun things happening in the Young Kennel Club's zone will be your chance to take a dog through a simple obstacle course. Helpers will be on hand to guide you as you guide your dog. Good luck.
If all that wasn't enough, there'll also be more than 100 trade stands for you to browse, selling a slew of dog-related goodies.

Oh, and a word of advice - if you have a dog of your own, leave him/her at home. Only invited mutts are allowed to attend Discover Dogs. That's fair enough - I mean, imagine the mayhem if everyone took their own dog. Chaos. Pure chaos.
