Dining in Chinatown

Published January 17th 2011
It makes sense that you'll find the best Asian food in Fortitude Valley's China Town, but it's also one of the best places in Brisbane for a cheap and satisfying meal.

Koh-Ya (shop 4, 624 Ann Street) is a Japanese barbeque restaurant that provides a dinner menu (with an average price of $14.00) or an all-you-can-eat Gourmet or Deluxe BBQ menu (from $39.90 per adult). Chingu Korean and Japanese BBQ (31 Duncan Street) also has a buffet menu ($29.95) as well as a la carte selections and lunch box specials from $13.50.

For a huge selection of yum cha, the Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant (642 Ann Street) has been a Chinatown favourite for years. They offer a good selection of bites (including vegetarian) and are open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

The Superbowl (185 Whickam Street) was included in the Brisbane Budget Bites book as the best Chinese restaurant in Brisbane. Main meals are priced between $13 and $19 and lunch specials are all under $12

Chinatown is easily accessed by train or bus and for a meal under $20, it can't be beaten.
