Multi award winning Melbourne-based stand-up comedian and performer, David Quirk, delivers comedy that's been described as "so dark it's burnt". He is premiering his new show
Career - Suicide at this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
David says he wrote this show on the lam. In his own words "It's about borrowing the wrong towel. You know? It's about searching for the man that stopped people jumping off cliffs for the wrong reasons. You with me? It's about comparing babies and iPhones! It's about Iranian women and finding Y-grade fame and king hits and stealing a dead girl's bike. Its about leaving your jelly beans to your sister in your will. Its about human and non-human animals and little else. I think."
The Guardian (UK) has described David's comedy as "Quietly devastating." while ArtsHUB said his show was 'Witty, intelligent... The jokes may be wry, but the huge grins in the audience are not'. But perhaps The Melbourne Age said it best: "Bleeding edge comedy that questions the whole point of comedy itself".
David Quirk is one of Australia's favourite comics on the stand-up scene today. For Melbourne International Comedy Festival he will be presenting 23 shows at Melbourne Town Hall from 27th March to 20th April. Show times are Monday - Saturday 9.45pm and Sundays at 8.45pm.
