Dave Spikey

Home > Things to do in London > Comedy
Event: 29/11/2009
If laughter really is the best medicine then your search for a new dealer ends here. Due to the success of his 2008 Best Medicine Tour, Dave Spikey is returning to the stage with a 'Repeat Prescription'. Laugh yourself healthy as Dave Spikey invites you into his world with his own unique brand of comedy.

Dave has the gift of taking ordinary everyday observations and making them seem extremely funny. His stand up is a combination of rapid one liners, observation and occasionally the surreal. Expect him to poke fun at everything and anything, from using monkeys riding cycles to diagnose depression, to the dangers of signs at family planning clinics advising visitors to 'use the rear entrance'. Everything is a potential target. He likes to get to know his surroundings to, so don't be surprised if Dave has you laughing at something written in the Evening Standard on the day of the show.

Like many successful stand up comedians, Dave likes to draw on his experiences of the 9-5 working week, but what's worrying is that Dave's 9-5 was within the NHS! As the title of the tour suggests, this experience tends to feature within his routine. Dave was the former Chief Biomedic Scientist at The Royal Bolton Hospital and he'll have you terrified of your next trip to the doctors when he discusses the quality of NHS employees and shares anecdotes, such as the time when dealing with a member of his staff, "I told him to right click on his mouse, so he wrote click on it!" When it comes to the NHS and health, Dave is more than just a mere observer, but somewhat of an expert. In fact he won Celebrity Mastermind recording the highest ever score answering questions on "Human Blood"!

Perhaps best known for his role on Phoenix Nights, Bullseye and being a team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, this multi award winning comedian, aims to improve your health and help you burn calories by exploring the funny side of life, because after all, one hours laughter burns 200 calories - it's been scientifically proven, at least that's what Dave says and he's an expert... So put yourself in his hands and get a ticket now from The Box Office.
