Turn up the heat this October long weekend from October 2-5 with Australia’s biggest Latin American and Spanish music and dance festival, the
Darling Harbour Fiesta.
As part of October’s
Crave Sydney and Darling Harbour’s continuing 21st birthday celebrations, expect to see more than 70 performances be on show across three outdoor stages in Darling Harbour. The weekend will feature a combination of some of the finest Latin American bands, salsa and tango experts, Brazilian Carnival girls, flamenco dancers and capoeira masters to say the least.
For the first time, the event will be launched by two international bands – all the way from Colombia double Grammy award winner Aterciopelados and Venezula’s salsa orchestra, Bailatino.
Joining the international stars will be some of Australia’s own Latin musicians who will get together for a Latin rock tribute – Soul Sacrifice – a celebration of the music by guitarist legend, Carlos Santana. Other sultry sounds will also be showcased while stepping back with tracks from the 60s and 70s.
Celebrity dancers of Latin America will hit the dance floor including Ana Andre of
Dancing With The Stars and
So You Think You Can Dance? to show off their best dance moves to the beats of the Latin world.
Get you own salsa moves on for Fiesta Nights that will run each night of the event. You can try out the rumba or perhaps test your dance skills with the tango as you dance the night away to the Latin sounds that will be performed on the Aquashell stages.
Tumbalong Park will become a stage itself hosting a range of Latin American and Spanish cuisines with food stalls serving plates of paella, tapas, empanadas and Spanish churros. A variety of Hispanic-inspired arts and crafts will also be offered along the Urban Stream.
