If you're free between 11am and 4pm on the 25th of October, make sure to gather up all your money money money and head to
Waterloo.
That's because the annual
Danks St Festival will be running at that most logical of venues: Danks St. While Abba won't be there – and nor, for that matter, will the Duke of Wellington – there should be plenty of people enjoying the stalls, markets and exhibitions, as well as the kids' interactive art.
This year's event will have two focuses: cooking and music. To begin with, there will be such an array of tasty snacks and meals on offer that it really will be a case of lay all your lunch on me. But more importantly, you'll find a showpiece known as the Live Green kitchen, which will feature cooking demonstrations with an emphasis on sustainable food.
Lyndey Milan will be acting as host, with
Ashley Hughes,
Alex Herbert,
David Campbell,
Kylie Kwong and
Jared Ingersoll providing the expertise.
As for the live entertainment, that will be occurring at two sites. DJ Marc Us and DJ Suzie Q will be getting dancing queens to move from the DJ Stage, while patrons will be able to thank The Donovans, Dimity Claire & the Bleeding Hearts, Danny & The Cosmic Tremors and EON Beats Project for the music that they will be playing on the Main Stage.
Visitors are encouraged to catch
public transport. Free bike parking will be available, and a complimentary community bus will be operating in Redfern and Waterloo. Another option is to walk from Redfern Station, a distance of about two kilometres.
