As part of the National Gallery of Victoria's Kid's Summer Festival, a heap of adorable dachshunds will be strutting their stuff through the Great Hall of NGV International this Australia Day, 26 January 2017.
Why dachshunds out of all the weird and wonderful dog breeds out there? It's a nod to two current exhibitions showing at the NGV International: Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists, and David Hockney: Current. While Viktor&Rolf has a beloved sausage dog named Little Swan, David Hockney is well known to love the little cylindrically shaped cuties and had as muses his dachshunds, Stanley and Boodgie.
Other activities on this NGV Kids Summer Festival Doggy Day, which are all free, include art making workshops and performances by Luke the Magician, a member of Gentlemen of Deceit, as seen on
Australia's Got Talent.
After the cuteness overload the dachshund parade will provide, the kids can run off and get creative. They will be able to create a number of dog-inspired paper creations with artist group Soft Stories and design three dimensional paper dogs with illustrator Alice Oehr. They can then display and photograph their creations at the 'Dog Park' in the Great Hall.
This will be a completely dachshund and dog filled day for the dog obsessed!
