Customs House bar is an authentic bar and restaurant that has both a large indoor and outdoor seating area. To our surprise, the Customs House bar was located about a block away from the Customs House building which is directly opposite Circular Quay station. Through further research, I found out that it is in fact a hotel restaurant and is part of the Marriott Sydney.

As we were ushered to our seats, we quickly perused our menus looking for a wholesome fulfilling meal for dinner. Though the food menu was limited in terms of choice, the descriptions made all of the options sound extremely appealing and delightfully and surprisingly healthy for a bar environment.

After narrowing it down to 3 options, we chose corn fed chicken with artichoke ($25) and a chicken sandwich with a side of chips ($21).



Though it is slightly on the pricier side of bar food given its popular Circular Quay location, my friend had a good buy 1 get 1 free deal from Sydney's entertainment book. Our food came down to a mere $25 for 2 big dishes.



The interior decor was nothing particularly special but rather simple with a projector showing various old school music videos. It was also relatively dim lit as it was mostly illuminated by both the lights around the counter and the outdoor seating lights. The food arrived rather quickly and smoothly, handed to us by a friendly efficient waiter with an exotic accent.

The corn fed chicken was very well made as the skin was not tough and it had sufficient flavour. The chicken in the sourdough sandwich was also quite delicious as it was tender and flavoursome. The side of chips were to a high standard as they were well cut and appropriately salted.

Overall, the experience was very affordable, delicious and I would definitely return again.
