Curry Vault

Published August 27th 2010
Curry Vault is a fine place for a relaxed meal within the Melbourne CBD; it's nested in a cosy lane off Collins Street. The restaurant serves excellent modern and traditional Indian cuisine while the bar offers a huge selection of red, white, sparkling, fortified and dessert wines, apart from other non-alcoholic beverages.

The food (available in à la carte and banquet menu) is fresh, tantalising and excellent in taste. The restaurant also offers excellent vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes. Make sure you save some appetite for 'gulab jamun' - one of the most popular Indian desserts.

There's an outdoor dining space too. The service is good. Bookings are advised.

A few picks from the menu:

Garlic chilli prawns ($24.90) - king prawns cooked with capsicum, onion and mixed spices.

Lamb rogan josh ($20.50) - lamb cooked in rich gravy.

Navrattan korma ($15.50) - vegetables cooked in delicious creamy sauce.

Pepper lamb cutlets ($18.80) - tender lamb cutlets mixed with pepper and special spices.

Gobi pakora ($8.20) - deep fried savoury snack of cauliflower.
