My Mum's Mum went here for coffee when she was training to become a nurse. So did my Mum. So, I guess that makes me a third generation Culley's Milk Bar customer. I can live with that. It's pretty cool to think that this cute little cafe in the middle of Fremantle was frequented by my Nanna and her friends in the 1930s, and here I am today, sipping on a latte and watching the goings on in the Lolly Shop opposite.
Culley's was established in 1925, and has been quietly sitting in the Atwood Arcade ever since. I didn't have anything to eat when I went there, but I have to say that the scones looked amazing.
You certainly won't get bored. Atwood Arcade is an art deco masterpiece, and there are always plenty of people ambling past on their daily adventures. I have to mention the best little shop, too -
She Seldom Blushes. It's amazing. I wanted to buy everything. But I couldn't because I'm a poor uni student. Have mercy!
After I'd had my coffee hit at Culley's I spent the rest of the day window shopping - Freo is one of the best places in Perth for a lazy day lusting after beautiful clothes, jewellery, art, wood products - pretty much anything you could ask for. What are you waiting for!? Go, now.
