If you are a dog lover and owner then you really appreciate sharing the finer things in life with your beloved pet. That includes long walks on the beach, weekends away from the daily grind and fun in the sun. Combine all of this with intoxicating fresh air and sand between your toes and you have the beautiful Culburra Beach.

Just two and half hours from Sydney by car or three hours by train and you will find yourself in the South Coast region of Shoalhaven. 18km from Nowra with a population of just under 3,000 this cosy seaside town is pocketed beside the equally tranquil Callala Bay and located between Crookhaven and Penguin heads. Bordered to the north by the Shoalhaven River it is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway.

Culburra Beach is well known for it's superb fishing, dolphin spotting and of course it's dog friendly beach. The long sandy beach extends for 3.5km making it an absolute playground for dogs, children, mums and dads. The sound of dogs barking and children squealing in delight, the scent of the salty ocean spray, the sight of waves crashing onto the shore and families happily playing with the heat of the sun beaming on your face even in winter.

Do yourself a favour and pack the car, grab the kids and don't forget your dogs as you head south for an unforgettable weekend away.
