CSI: The Experience

by Debra Lidster (149) (subscribe)
Debra, a stay-at-home mum of three, has just recently moved to Brisbane with her family. She is looking forward to experiencing and sharing all that the city has to offer.
Event: 02/12/2011 - 28/02/2012
If you are a fan of CSI like I am, you are going to love CSI: The Experience, an interactive exhibition opening December 2, 2011 at the Piazza in Surfers Paradise.
Based on the hit television show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, this hands-on exhibit was developed with 175 forensic science experts. Already a success in the United States, Europe, and Asia, it only seems fitting to bring it to the Gold Coast - not unlike Las Vegas with its notorious nightlife and criminal element.

CSI: The Experience allows visitors to enter 'crime scenes' and take on the role of a forensic detective to solve a hypothetical crime using real science.

The new detectives will be inducted upon entering the exhibit via video introduction by Anthony E. Zuiker, the creator of the CSI series. Real-life forensic scientist, Ron Singer, will then sum up the science found in the exhibition followed by a briefing by 'Gil Grissom', the team supervisor.

The detectives will then be directed to one of three detailed 'crime scenes' to identify, record, and analyse the evidence. They can access 'crime labs' for scientific testing and visit 'autopsy rooms' for pathology analysis. Some of the forensic science they will employ is: DNA comparison, firearm identification, blood splatter analysis, forensic entomology, toxicology, and fingerprint and dental record comparison.

Past and present CSI characters will encourage the detectives along the way via video. Detectives will then be invited to present their results to 'Gil Grissom' in his 'office'; those who are successful will receive a personalised crime scene diploma.

Most detectives take about fifty to sixty minutes to solve the 'crime'.

Tickets go on sale at Ticketek on Friday, November 18th, 2011.

We are going today. Hope its good.
My only concern is that they suggest you book online to make sure you get in as its so new and its busy. We had to pay a $4.75 fee online to (a) download tickets OR (b) have them sent or OR (c ) pick up at venue and no option but to pay fee sso it makes it expensive
As you only solve one crime on each visit and there are 3 different "crimes: it would cost $22.50 + $4.75 x 3 to do the whole exibit = $83
You also get the option of paying an ïnsurance" of $7 so that if you cant go on the day you booked, you can swap the date, so if you were buying tickets for a few pwople to go together - its expensive
And of course they have the usual "souvineers" and they are about $25 each, so it could be expensive
I do hope they give a discount once you have solved one crime and want to return to do another

We went to CSI and it was quite good. You are given a crime to solve. One of three. It's done in order ( first guests do crime 1, second guests do crime 2 on so on). I don't know how they will go if one of the crimes proves the most popular or no-one wants to do a certain crime. I hope that you can pick the one you want to if you have already done one already. The souviniers are Ok but a bit expensive, especially the carrier bag. Best to accept the plastic one they give you for free. You can get a certificate At the end which you can get printed out for free. We opted for it to be emailed to us as we thought we would have to pay for the printout. Neither onlined ones ever turned up in my email box.
