One thing I notice every time I walk down Macleay Street, Potts Point is the duck shaped meringues inside the window of
Croissant D'Or . This little gem is a tiny French bakery located at 117 Macleay Street, Potts Point, adjacent to the popular El Alamein Fountain, also known as Fitzroy Gardens fountain or a short walk down the famous Kings Cross strip, about 5 minutes from Kings Cross train station.
Croissant D'Or specialise in a range of sweet and savoury treats made onsite. Their sausage rolls and pies are fresh and have a sense of quirk or gourmet such as their chicken pie topped with avocado, bits of bacon and baked melted cheese. Another fancy try is their Florentine. I enjoy Florentines and it is difficult to find a well-made Florentine direct from the baker.
The next time you are there or popping in for the first time, I recommend:
1 The chicken and avocado pie
2 Florentine
3 Treat yourself to one of their many delicately made chocolate treats
4 Almond croissant
Croissant D'Or do well at their handcrafted foods and this is not amiss during key seasons such as Christmas and Easter. Go in to discover some of their beautifully made chocolate bunnies or Christmas logs.
Everything at Croissant D'Or is made on site, so you are sure to be trying something that is fresh and smells divine. When you visit Croissant D'Or, you may find that their customer service area is a little tight for comfort. Don't be fooled by this because the rest of the space has been spared for their baking and preparation area. No complaints from me, I am happy for more of those delightful goodies to get a spot in my belly!
Croissant D'Or is
open 6 days a week, Monday to Friday between 6:30am and 6:30pm and 7am to 6pm on Saturday. Grab a bite to eat and take a walk across the road to Fitzroy Gardens to enjoy your treat!
