Following last year's success,
Crave Sydney International Food Festival returns for another long month of celebration of Sydney's love for food.
Kicking off celebrations as part of the
World Chef Showcase will be the exclusive and only Australian public appearance of
Rene Redzepi. He is head chef of the world's number one restaurant, Noma, who will present his innovative, inspiring food philosophy. Other chefs to follow as part of the Showcase will include Peter Gilmore, Tetsuya Wakuda, Kylie Kwong and Luke Nguyen who will also be taking over the kitchen with cooking demonstrations, tastings and talks.
The opportunity to be able to taste continues as part the
Barbecue Madness around different spots of Sydney and at the Sydney Morning Herald Growers Market.
Meanwhile, out in the western suburbs of Sydney, Parramatta's foodie strip will be showcasing the talents of local chefs at
Eat Street Sunday. Channel Nine's Ready Steady Cook regular Janelle Bloom will be making an appearance on the 'Food Stage' while Papua New Guinea blues singer Ngaiire will deliver her vocals on the 'Music Stage'.
To make the most of the outdoors,
Sydney Harbour Island Hopping is a fun adventure to hop on and off Sydney's ferries to uncover and explore the mysteries of Shark Island, Clark Island and the recently reopened Goat Island. Also, happening at Clark Island will be the
Perfect Picnic – the best opportunity to round up a few mates, pack a picnic and just soak up the spring weather.
On a separate island, the
Fort Denison Restaurant will be serving up to three course lunch and dinners for Dining on Fort Denison. The dining experience will also include a guided tour of the island's historic Martello Tower, ferry transfer to and from the island and a sparkling wine welcome drink on arrival.
Making a come-back this year is
Breakfast on the Bridge where the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be covered in green lawns giving a few lucky hundred people the chance to enjoy a picnic as they watch the sunrise over the city.
Come night time, the feeding and eating won't stop there. The
Night Noodle Markets that will have more than three dozen stalls will replicate an authentic Asian hawker market, guaranteeing that it will be good street food at affordable prices. To be held on the second and third weekend of October, the markets will also feature live Asian-inspired entertainment.
